Ray joined Ketchum in 1983, was appointed CEO in 2000, and became chairman in 2012. Under his leadership, Ketchum has expanded its global client-footprint, broadened and deepened its offerings and continued its award-winning. During Ray's tenure the firm was twice named PRWeek’s Agency of the Year, received two PR Cannes Lions, and maintained its record for the most PRSA Silver Anvils.

Ray serves on the executive committee and board of the Arthur W. Page Society, and is a past chair of the Council of Public Relations Firms. He has received the Holmes Group's SABRE Individual Achievement Award, and the Public Relations Society of America’s Gold Anvil.

With a B.A. from the State University of New York at Geneseo, where he serves as a trustee of the Geneseo Foundation, he also holds a Master’s Degree in public relations from Boston University.
