Lead Principal, Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Antonio Hernandez serves as the Lead Principal of Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Amazon. In this role, he oversees global inclusive marketing, diversity communications and public relations, and strategic diversity external partnerships worldwide. Prior to joining Amazon, Antonio served as McDonald’s global director of diversity issues management and crisis communications. He also has held senior Corporate Human Resources and global diversity communication positions with Abbott Laboratories, Exelon Corporation, and ServiceMaster Global Holdings, Inc. An advocate for LGBTQ+ youth, Hernandez served on the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance Board to promote safe and inclusive learning environments. He also has served as the inaugural Chair of Diversity Initiatives with the PRSA Board, Chicago chapter. Hernandez is past-president of the U.S. Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA), and a guest lecturer on Advanced Topics in Multicultural Communications at DePaul University. In 2021, he was invited to speak on diversity, equity and inclusion at the Harvard Law School New World of Work Summit (Purple Campaign), and was awarded the DEI Champion Award by the National Diversity Council.
