FOSTER THE FUTURE FELLOWSHIPS
Foster the Future is a collaborative initiative between Mission North, communications agency partners, and the PRSA Foundation to mobilize our industry for transformative change.
A 2022 survey conducted by the Diversity Action Alliance across nearly 20,000 PR and communications organizations in the U.S. found that only 29% of employees were ethnically and racially diverse. Within those organizations' leadership positions, that percentage drops to just 17%.
Foster the Future aims to change that, using our collective resources and voices to create lasting, positive impact in our industry.
The Foster the Future Fellowship program launched in 2022 with four agencies sponsoring scholarships and fellowships, including paid internships, for college students from underrepresented groups interested in the field of communications.
Now 12 organizations strong, and offering internships and dedicated professional development training programs, the program is fostering a new future for the PR industry. For the first time, we will provide professional development opportunities to all students, with Natan Edelsburg, Chief Partnership Officer at Muck Rack and 2026 PRSA Foundation President, Mark Strong, founder and CEO of Strong Professional, and Brian Gabay, CEO of Brian Simon Associates, who will provide training for all fellows to accelerate their careers.

2026
AGEAN Public Relations Fellowship:
$2,500 scholarship + 5-week paid internship (Remote)
Sponsored by AGEAN Public Relations, this fellowship awards a $2,500 scholarship and 5-week paid remote internship to a BIPOC identified student who is pursuing a career in public relations.
Greenough Fellowship:
$3,500 scholarship + 8-week paid internship (Boston)
Sponsored by Greenough Communications, this fellowship will award one BIPOC identified student annually who is pursuing a major or minor in public relations, journalism, marketing, or communications with a $3,500 scholarship and a paid eight-week internship with Greenough Communications in Boston, MA.
LaunchSquad Fellowship:
$15,000 scholarship + $4,000 stipend + 8-week paid internship (Remote)
The LaunchSquad Fellowship awards one BIPOC identified student annually who is pursuing a career in journalism, public relations, marketing & communications with a $15,000 scholarship, a $4,000 stipend, and a paid eight-week internship with LaunchSquad.
Mission North Fellowship:
$32,000 scholarship + $6,000 stipend + twelve-week paid internship (New York/San Francisco)
Sponsored by Mission North, this fellowship will award one BIPOC identified student annually who is pursuing a career in PR focusing on tech communications, science communications, or digital marketing & design with a $32,000 scholarship, a $6,000 stipend, and a paid twelve-week internship with Mission North in New York, NY or San Francisco, CA.
The Key PR Fellowship:
$10,000 scholarship + $4,000 stipend + eight-week paid internship (San Francisco)
The Key PR Fellowship will award one BIPOC identified or first-generation college student annually who is pursuing a major in public relations, marketing, or communications with a $10,000 scholarship, $4,000 stipend, and a paid eight-week internship with The Key PR in San Francisco, CA.
V2 Communications Fellowship:
$2,500 scholarship + eight-week paid full-time internship (Boston)
The V2 Communications Fellowship will award one BIPOC identified student annually who is pursuing a major in public relations, journalism, marketing, communications, digital marketing & design, or tech marketing with a $2,500 scholarship and a paid full-time eight-week internship with V2 Communications in Boston, MA.
EvolveMKD Fellowship:
$5,000 scholarship + thirteen-week paid internship (New York)
Sponsored by EvolveMKD, this fellowship will award one BIPOC-identified student, first-generation student, and/or student who identifies as a member of an underrepresented group or historically marginalized community annually who is pursuing a major or minor in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, English, or a related field with a $5,000 scholarship and a paid eight-week internship with EvolveMKD in New York, NY.
Hannah Cranston Media Fellowship:
$3,000 scholarship + twelve-week part-time paid internship (New York)
The Hannah Cranston Media Fellowship will award one student annually who is pursuing a major in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field with a $3,000 scholarship and a paid twelve-week part-time internship with Hannah Cranston Media in New York, NY.
Hirsch Leatherwood Fellowship:
$2,500 scholarship + eight-week part-time paid internship (New York)
The Hirsch Leatherwood Fellowship will award one student annually who is pursuing a major in political science, English, or humanities with a $2,500 scholarship and a paid eight-week part-time internship with Hirsch Leatherwood in New York, NY.
Kite Hill Fellowship:
$1,500 scholarship + three-month paid internship (Miami/New York)
The Kite Hill Fellowship will award one student annually who is pursuing a major or minor in public relations, journalism, marketing, or communications with a $1,500 scholarship and a paid three-month internship with Kite Hill in Miami, FL or New York, NY.
Scout Lab Fellowship:
$2,500 scholarship + three-month part-time paid internship (remote)
The Scout Lab Fellowship will award one college student annually who is pursuing a major in public relations, marketing, or communications with a $2,500 scholarship and a paid three-month part-time remote internship with Scout Lab.
SolComms Fellowship:
$5,000 scholarship + thirteen-week paid internship (New York)
The SolComms Fellowship will award one BIPOC identified or LGBTQ-identified college student annually who is pursuing a major in public relations, marketing, or communications with a $5,000 scholarship and a paid thirteen-week internship with SolComms in New York, NY.
